Things to Do at Crabbes Creek Cottages on the Tweed Byron Coast Hinterland NSW
Crabbes Creek is a quiet rural village at the very
southern tip of the Tweed Shire, half way between Murwillumbah in the Tweed
Shire and Byron Bay in Byron Shire. Crabbes Creek is close to
Brunswick Heads, too, with its choice of beaches and many restaurants. Byron
Bay is only 15 minutes away on the M1. Do some exciting retail therapy in the
Industrial Estate as well as town, combined with a memorable day's
sightseeing. The valley road ends in open pasture and working banana plantations. The General Store, opened in 1890, invites
you to remember a bygone era. The old Community Hall was the first Macedonian
Church in Australia. A Chinese market garden existed and in the 1950s the
area was farmed by many Italian families. Today the Community Hall is the
social focus for locals.
Weekend markets are always somewhere close and spectacular Wooyung Beach is
only 10 minutes drive from Crabbes Creek Cottages. If you want to "get away from
it all" then this may be the place for you. Fishing and surfing are the main
attractions at this long stretch of isolated beach. From Wooyung you can see
north to Tweed Heads and south to Byron Bay lighthouse. The beach is an ideal
place to whale watch mid-year.

Enjoy rambling gardens, birdlife, picnic BBQ areas, walk to the licensed
General Store or visit Byron, Murwillumbah and smaller towns such as Mooball and
Burringbar.

When you start seeing black & white spots on the telegraph poles you know you have reached the unique country village of Mooball. The warm & friendly residents of this small community have created some unique experiences that shouldn't be missed when driving along Tweed Valley Way.
With antiques & collectables at the Moo Moo Cafe, freshly picked local produce
and a great local pub this is a spot to relax and enjoy good old country style
hospitality.
The Victory Hotel at Mooball has a homely family restaurant, with beer garden, Sky and Fox
Sports as well as free tennis, swimming pool and kid's sandpit. During the
day, visit Moo Moo Stitches, next door, for craft needs.
When you leave don't forget to say Hooroo to the Moo Moo!
